5-Day Himalayan Slow Living Program in Chakung Village for Routine Reset

Duration: 5 Days
Location: West District, Sikkim, India
Program Type: Residential Program
Format: English, Hindi, Malayalam
Program Overview

Five days of village walks, local food and unhurried time across Chakung and Sribadam, West Sikkim.

This five-day residential program is built on a simple idea: wellbeing does not always need another technique. Sometimes it begins by changing the rhythm of everyday life.

For five days you step away from your usual pace and live closer to the rhythm of a Himalayan village across Chakung and Sribadam in West Sikkim. You walk more, spend time outdoors, eat locally prepared food, take part in everyday traditions, meet the people who call these villages home and allow space for quiet, rest and unstructured time.

This is not a sightseeing itinerary with wellness sessions added on. The villages, landscape, food, movement, community and pace of the days are the program.

The journey moves from a quiet arrival, into village rhythm, into slower attention, through nature and nourishment in Sribadam, and ends with time to carry something home. Participation is always invitational.

Highlights

Signature Experiences

Distinctive moments that give this journey its character and depth.

01
Signature Experience

Village Rhythm Walk

After breakfast, a small-group walk through lanes, farms, kitchen gardens and working spaces, meeting residents along the way. Everyday questions guide the walk: what grows here, what does a normal morning look like, where does food come from, how do seasons shape work and meals? Walking as part of daily life, not scheduled as exercise.

02
Signature Experience

From Kitchen to Table

A hands-on food experience with local hosts: preparing momos and, depending on season and availability, assisting with another local dish or ingredient preparation. The session moves from raw ingredients to a shared village meal, connecting food to place, people and tradition.

03
Signature Experience

The Unscheduled Afternoon

A protected period with no organised activity and no expected output. The invitation is to experience what happens when doing nothing does not need to be justified. Each full day in the program includes meaningful unscheduled time.

04
Signature Experience

Trout Farm Experience

A visit to a working trout farm fed by cold mountain water in Sribadam. You meet the people involved and learn about the farm, the conditions trout need and its place in local livelihood and food culture. The thread is geography, water, livelihood and food.

05
Signature Experience

Forest and Waterfall Walk

A forest trail to a local waterfall, with unstructured time there before walking back. No facilitation at the waterfall itself. The walk is part of the program's emphasis on natural movement and time outdoors without performance or assignment.

06
Signature Experience

Farm to Fire

The signature Sribadam evening meal: locally sourced trout, where available, prepared around the fire with traditional accompaniments and equally considered vegetarian options. Then fire, conversation and stargazing. Not a formal programme, just food, people and quiet.
